President and Chief Executive Officer - Brian E. Stewart is the co-founder of our sole operating subsidiary, SurgiCount Medical, Inc., and co-inventor of our Safety-Sponge® System. After selling SurgiCount Medical to Patient Safety Technologies, Inc. in 2005, Mr. Stewart acted as an advisor to the company and remained one of the largest individual shareholders of Patient Safety Technologies. In 2010 Mr. Stewart spearheaded a shareholder activism effort supported by the majority of the shareholders of Patient Safety Technologies which directly resulted in the resignation of the then majority of the board of directors, the replacement of senior management and the appointment of Mr. Stewart as our President and Chief Executive Officer. Previously, Mr. Stewart worked in the investment banking divisions of Credit Suisse, CIBC World Markets and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. In addition to his investment banking and entrepreneurial experience, Mr. Stewart's previous experience includes Strome Investment Management, a hedge fund in Santa Monica, CA. Mr. Stewart received his MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and his BA in Economics from UCLA where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. Mr. Stewart has received numerous issued domestic and international patents, including all the patents protecting the Safety-Sponge® System.
VP, Finance, CFO - David Dreyer - Mr.
Dreyer is the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and
Vice President, having joined the Company in October of
2010. Previously, Mr. Dreyer was Chief Financial Officer
at Alphastaff Inc., from August 2009 through September
2010, and Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative
Officer and Treasurer at AMN Healthcare, Inc. from August
2004 through August 2009. Alphastaff is the fourth-largest
professional employment outsourcing company in the United
States, with annual revenue of approximately $250 million.
He managed over one hundred employees at AMN in his role
overseeing finance, accounting, tax, investor relations,
treasury, payroll operations and risk management. Prior
to working for AMN Healthcare, Inc., Mr. Dreyer was Chief
Financial Officer at Sicor Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical
company headquartered in Irvine, CA with operations in
Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, China and Lithuania. David
led the sale of Sicor Inc. to Teva Ltd. for $3.4 billion
in January 2004.
VP, Sales and Clinical Field Operations
- Tony Embree brings over 27 years of sales, sales
management, and procedural supply chain consulting experience
in hospital operating rooms and the procedural area environment.
Previous experience includes 24 years with Cardinal Health
in a variety of leadership positions that have prepared
him for his current role. Tony joined the company in January,
2008 and has played a key role in driving adaptation of
the Safety Sponge System while serving as Midwest Area
Vice President. Additional entrepreneurial experience includes
co-founding and launching a medical technology company
from concept to market.
VP, Business/Product
Development – Nicolas
Soichet has led several departments since the founding
of Company including business development, research & development,
and marketing. He lead the development of the Safety-Sponge™ and
Citadel™ products, the development of the Company’s
proprietary sponge manufacturing processes, as well as the
expansion of its IP portfolio. Mr. Soichet currently oversees
overall development. His business background encompasses
investment banking, strategic operations, and manufacturing.
